The Lindis is a luxury lodge located in the Ahuriri Valley, in the heart of the Southern Alps of New Zealand. The lodge was designed by Architecture Workshop to create a sense of harmony between the structure and the land. Dunning Thornton Consultants carried out the structural engineering design of the concrete walls, curved steel beams and other structural elements that allow the building to resist the extreme wind, seismic and snow loads that it is exposed to due to its unique location. Mark Beetham carried out a regulatory peer review of the structural design during his time working at New Zealand Consulting Engineers. This included review of the full structural system as it relates to the clause B1 of the New Zealand Building Code.
